Swedish upstart steps into giant mining market: "Incredibly good response"

The Swedish cleantech company Evia's electric roads pave the way for electrifying the mining industry. In a pilot project in Brisbane, Australia, the company will demonstrate its technology.

Today, seven major mining companies have signed agreements to test the new technology, and discussions are taking place with a number of other companies. With Evias technology, the companies avoid both battery changes and charging times, which makes it possible to use the vehicles during all hours of the day. It also means that the vehicles can be equipped with smaller and cheaper batteries, which can be charged at the same time as the vehicles travel on electric roads down in the mines.
